Finding Chemo

A year ago today, I had my first chemo treatment. It was scary but I got through it. I can't believe it has been 365 days. It feels like an eternity ago. I feel like I didn't even go through anything. The only reminders I have are my lack of eyebrows, short hair-do and a couple fading scars

Here are some things cancer has taught me:
1) Don't sweat the small stuff. I try as hard as I can do live by this motto. Some days it's easy and some days it is not but I definitely don't sweat the small stuff as much as I did before I was diagnosed.
2) Don't stress out about the unknown. John helped me with this one. Stressing about something isn't going to change the outcome. If anything, it will make it worse.
3) Appreciate all the wonderful friends and family in your life.
4) If you want to do something, go for it. Don't sit around and wait for it to just happen. Make it happen.
5) I can rock short hair.
6) Surround yourself with positive people who will only bring you up, not drag you down. It's very easy to be negative when you are around negative people.

I sometimes think getting cancer was a blessing in disguise. I look at life so differently now. It sucked to go through it, but I think I am a better person because of it.

My first day of chemo. I was sad because they had to poke me 800 times

Lash Blast

I have great news! My eyelashes are FINALLY starting to look like they used to. It only took 8 months. They getting fuller and longer and Leon's getting laaaarger. Now if only my eyebrows would grow back. I've seen no growth at all on those suckers. I'm giving them until June and then I may tattoo them.

American Handstand

I keep getting stronger and stronger. Today in yoga, I did something I've never been able to do. I did a handstand against the wall.  I wasn't even able to do this pre-cancer. It's kind of scary to try it but once you get up, it's a piece of cake. You start by doing downward dog while the souls of your feet are on the wall. Then you lift one leg as high as it will go up the wall. And then, you lift the other one. It sounds easy but it's intimidating. Below is a picture I found online of a woman doing it with her cat watching. My next goal is to be able to twerk while in the handstand. Stay tuned for photos...
